African Drumming Tour of Guinea Conakry, January 2011...

Experience original West African culture first hand, and train with incredible musicians in the home of the djembe.
Over the 3 and a half weeks of the trip you will travel from the vibrant capital, Conakry, up to the beautiful fishing village of Bel Air, on to a village in his hometown of Boke, and finally back down to the magical, musical island of Roume. Your music teachers will travel with you, so you can drum every day as you explore the country. There will also be time to visit rivers and beaches, markets and museums, and to relax in a hammock too.

Diene has an extraordinary talent for bringing out the best in all of his students – whether you are a complete beginner or an accomplished dancer – Diene will have you dancing the most complex of choreography with ease and simplicity. He is exuberant, inspiring, nurturing and patient in all of his classes.

Your stay will be split between Senegal's buzzing coastal capital, Dakar, and a beautiful seaside village. Training and relaxing during the day and in the evenings you can witness traditional Senegalese music and dance.

30 hours tuition (3 hours per day) in Drum or Dance (or a combination of both)
Standard accommodation (clean and basic on a shared basis), breakfast and evening meal

Dance Dialogues Print

Dance Dialogues is a range of exciting dance-based events throughout Bristol over a three month period. The seminal "Black Dance in Britain 1930’s - 1990’s Moments" exhibition which is the centrepiece of this major cultural event will serve as a base and information point for all other events.

NEXT EVENT - Imayla Dance-a-thon - Sat 9th January 2010

Imayla Dance Dialogue members are pleased to invite you to participate in a  Dance-a-thon on Sat 9th January 2010, the last day of the exhibition in Bristol. This event will start at 11am in the Galleries, Broadmead until 6pm. Between 6pm and 8pm light refreshments will be provided for the participants and time to refresh and get ready.... there will be a closing party at 8pm in the exhibition Unit to which all participants are invited to attend for FREE. Other guests will be asked to make a donation of £5 each.  Buffet Food and drink will be available for sale, entertainment and yet more music and dancing!!

Refugee Week LogopoetryFor the last eight years Doris has been collaborating with Bristol City Council Refugee and Asylum Services, Refugee Action and Bristol communities from many parts of the globe to create an annual, intercultural arts event to kick start National Refugee Week celebrations in Bristol. The next Refugee day will take place at the usual location, Queen's Square, Bristol on Sunday 13th June 2010.
